June continues to be a very busy club month with the ARRL Annual Field Day scheduled for the weekend of June 26 & 27th at Sandsprit Park, at the Manatee Pocket, Stuart, Shelter #6. The event is co-hosted by the MCARA and ARES/RACES clubs in town. This is advertised as a public event and will allow everyone to get on the air and test out any new or old equipment, or learn a new skill during a very popular practice event. Logging of contacts and points earned will be calculated. Bring a friend. A motion was made by Lee and seconded by Jan (and Bill S.) to spend up to $250 for food. LORAN C, the third generation of a navigation and timing system which guided mariners and aviators since World War II is dead. The death blow came last May when President Obama called the system obsolete, saying it is no longer needed in an age in which Global Positioning System devices are nearly ubiquitous in cars, planes and boats.
