2010 South Florida Section Convention, LoTW
Hi Guys,
For those of us who missed the July meeting, we had a big announcement and a great presentation on the ARRL Logbook Of the World Service (LOTW).

Announcement: ARRL chooses MCARA to host the 2010 ARRL South Florida Section Convention at the 2010 MCARA hamfest on 20 March, 2010. Needless to say, we are happy to be chosen for this year. We need to get our forum schedule completed earlier and better food vendors in order for this year. We plan to promote the hamfest even more and we have more improvements in store. Anyone with ideas is welcome to submit them via the Contact form on this site.

W4DAS gave a great presentation on LOTW, thanks Doug! Unfortunately, when we got to the League presentation, we could not view it on the borrowed computer we were using without PowerPoint. I ran into this before- and I'm sure others will continue to run into this, so I converted the PowerPoint presentation into a Flash based presentation which I posted here: http://www.qstswap.com/blogs/entry/ARRL-Logbook-of-the-world As long as you have Flash (even on Linux or Mac) you should be able to view the presentation without spending any money.
One question I had regarding LOTW was: Can I upload my QSO logs to LoTW using Ham Radio Deluxe like I do automagically for eQSL.cc? (For those not familiar the Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) program is a free windows rig control, logging program, and Swiss Army knife for Hams) Short answer is no HRD does not do that, but you can manually export (blah, blah)... Long answer: Use the free WD5EAE Ham Radio Deluxe Utilities to upload to both eQSL.cc and LoTW.
http://wd5eae.org/Software.html Automated LoTW uploads, import LoTW confirmations, logbook updates from QRZ.com, import eQSL confirmations, download eQSL card images, generate GlobalQSL ADIF upload files, update personal information in the HRD logbook, generate HTML logbooks for your web site and more
So if you don't have HRD, I encourage you to download it http://www.ham-radio-deluxe.com/ and try it- and if you already use it and want to automate the LoTW processes, try the free HRD utilities by WD5EAE.
