January 22nd SKYWARN Activation
One day after completing SKYWARN training, local spotters received an unexpected visitor, in the form of a dangerous weather system responsible for at least 34 tornadoes, and 20 deaths across six southern states from Louisiana to Florida.
National Weather Service Melbourne - 0230z Alerts
MCARA members activated a SKYWARN Net on the local ARES 145.150 repeater at 0100z (8:00 PM EST) to coordinate observations and damage reports. The Net was maintained until 0630z (1:30 AM EST) when the system left Martin County.
